BECOME A VOLUNTEER:
Peers, people who have faced mental, emotional,spiritual challenges are at the heart of the SPIRIT Center program. Their experience, dedication and commitment extend "hope" for all who come seeking self-empowerment. The SPIRIT Center is operated solely by peer volunteers. See classes.
Program Support Volunteer:
Our volunteers provide vital services that maintain the SPIRIT Center program. A six week class prepares them for the challenges of the different volunteer positions. Example: Building, & Grounds Manager, Organic Gardener, Receptionist, Office Assistant, etc.
Peer Counseling Volunteer
Volunteers provide one to one peer counseling to the public. Peers participate in a 12 week course, Peer counseling 101. They develop needed skills to assist their peers to cope with life challenges, to set goals, and to access community opportunities.
Support Group Facilitator:
Volunteers work with Co-faciltators to provide support, access to community resources, life and vocational skill building services to small groups with common needs and goals. Peers learn about group dynamics and processes in a 12 week course, Group Facilitation 102.
Media Outreach / Fund-raising:
Volunteers organize and conduct fund-raising activities and events through out the year. These volunteers interface with local businesses, service organizations, media outlets, artisans and entertainers, etc.
Educational Outreach Volunteer:
Peer volunteers develop community resource contacts to arrange for guest speakers, to facilitate workshops on various topics at SPIRIT Center. Examples: Communication skills, Mediation, Cellular Memory, Therapeutic Music, (N.V.C) Non-Violent-Communication
Stomp Out Stigma Volunteer:

Peers that volunteer to educate the public about our mental health services at schools, businesses, community service organizations, service clubs, etc..Their focus is to emphasize that stigma is hurtful and harmful and all people need to be valued.
